Review: Revlon ColorSilk (Blonde-ish)

Shade: 57 Lightest Golden Brown

This was the lightest color available in Guardian (in the ColorSilk line) when I had gone there and so I purchased this.

I'd wanted to lighten my black roots. The reason I purchased this instead of, say, Light Brown or any other brown is because from my past experience with drug store hair dye, those 'browns' always end up looking the same (color) on black hair. Typically, the browns would only lighten my hair color slightly and so this time, I purchased this color in hopes that it'll lighten my hair color up by a few shades.

What they provide you with

My roots are greasy because I hadn't washed my hair the day before. In the instructions, I think they instructed that it's best to color your hair when it's kind of dirty so that the color can really 'stick' on to your hair during the dyeing process.

Color of my roots VS color of my ends

I used the entire bottle on the top of my head.
It took me 10-15 minutes to color my hair (using a comb to really get the dye evenly distributed)  and then I left it on for 20 minutes.
So basically, I'd say I had left the dye on for around 30-35 minutes.
I'm sure the instruction says no longer than 25 minutes or something like that...oh wells!

I didn't use shampoo at all after I had rinsed out the hair dye in the shower. I just used the conditioner the package provided with and honestly, the hair that I had dyed ended up feeling softer and smoother than the hair that I hadn't dyed the next day!

Result!!
Now my roots are the same color as my ends! Woop woop!

I'm kind of sad that there is a bit of brassy-orangy tone going on, but looking at the Color Results table, I think this is the color I am suppose to get haha.

I had wanted my black hair to be a few shades lighter and the dye achieved that, so I have nothing to complain about!

Also, I applied on some vaseline around my hairline and down my neck beforehand so that incase the dye gets on my skin, it won't stain my skin haha.

Now I'll just have to wait and see how long this color lasts for before it washes out...

What I like:
  • Doesn't smell (hair dye)
  • Easy to use
  • Does work (but I'm not sure if the color change would be as significant if I had distributed the entire bottle all over my hair instead of just on the top)
  • Doesn't dry out my hair
What I don't like:
  • Nothing thus far!

Review: Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited

Shade: WN 295

-  Product contains 3.2 g  -

Love the packaging!

The color is (or looks) dark burgundy I'd say.
I got this as a gift and I'm so ecstatic to try it out! I've been wanting a burgundy lipstick for a while now :)

One layer, applied on using a lipstick brush.
I did not prep my lips beforehand (i.e. with lip balm).
I was disappointed with the color pay off.

2nd layer applied on by running the lipstick across my lips. The result was much closer to the color of the lipstick, but, still not as dark.

Here is the color under the sunlight and as you can see, this lipstick isn't matte but instead, offers a sheer shine which means this lipstick would be moisturizing.

This lipstick doesn't say it's long lasting, and I'm not sure it is...but it can definitely last up to 4 hours and remain its color.

I ate with the lipstick on and some came off as I ate (tried to do so carefully).

I patted on some brown eye shadow to darken the color and it worked! Mattified the shine as well!

What I like:
  • Moisturizing
  • Color build up (can be build from a sheer berry pink to a burgundy-ish color I guess haha)
  • Lasts up to 4 hours
  • No taste
  • Kind of stains your lips...so even after you eat there will still be colors on your lips no matter what

What I don't like:
  • COLOR. I'd wanted a real burgundy lipstick, not berry-burgundy lipstick :/
