Review: Revlon ColorSilk (Blonde-ish)

Shade: 57 Lightest Golden Brown

This was the lightest color available in Guardian (in the ColorSilk line) when I had gone there and so I purchased this.

I'd wanted to lighten my black roots. The reason I purchased this instead of, say, Light Brown or any other brown is because from my past experience with drug store hair dye, those 'browns' always end up looking the same (color) on black hair. Typically, the browns would only lighten my hair color slightly and so this time, I purchased this color in hopes that it'll lighten my hair color up by a few shades.

What they provide you with

My roots are greasy because I hadn't washed my hair the day before. In the instructions, I think they instructed that it's best to color your hair when it's kind of dirty so that the color can really 'stick' on to your hair during the dyeing process.

Color of my roots VS color of my ends

I used the entire bottle on the top of my head.
It took me 10-15 minutes to color my hair (using a comb to really get the dye evenly distributed)  and then I left it on for 20 minutes.
So basically, I'd say I had left the dye on for around 30-35 minutes.
I'm sure the instruction says no longer than 25 minutes or something like that...oh wells!

I didn't use shampoo at all after I had rinsed out the hair dye in the shower. I just used the conditioner the package provided with and honestly, the hair that I had dyed ended up feeling softer and smoother than the hair that I hadn't dyed the next day!

Result!!
Now my roots are the same color as my ends! Woop woop!

I'm kind of sad that there is a bit of brassy-orangy tone going on, but looking at the Color Results table, I think this is the color I am suppose to get haha.

I had wanted my black hair to be a few shades lighter and the dye achieved that, so I have nothing to complain about!

Also, I applied on some vaseline around my hairline and down my neck beforehand so that incase the dye gets on my skin, it won't stain my skin haha.

Now I'll just have to wait and see how long this color lasts for before it washes out...

What I like:
  • Doesn't smell (hair dye)
  • Easy to use
  • Does work (but I'm not sure if the color change would be as significant if I had distributed the entire bottle all over my hair instead of just on the top)
  • Doesn't dry out my hair
What I don't like:
  • Nothing thus far!

Review: Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited

Shade: WN 295

-  Product contains 3.2 g  -

Love the packaging!

The color is (or looks) dark burgundy I'd say.
I got this as a gift and I'm so ecstatic to try it out! I've been wanting a burgundy lipstick for a while now :)

One layer, applied on using a lipstick brush.
I did not prep my lips beforehand (i.e. with lip balm).
I was disappointed with the color pay off.

2nd layer applied on by running the lipstick across my lips. The result was much closer to the color of the lipstick, but, still not as dark.

Here is the color under the sunlight and as you can see, this lipstick isn't matte but instead, offers a sheer shine which means this lipstick would be moisturizing.

This lipstick doesn't say it's long lasting, and I'm not sure it is...but it can definitely last up to 4 hours and remain its color.

I ate with the lipstick on and some came off as I ate (tried to do so carefully).

I patted on some brown eye shadow to darken the color and it worked! Mattified the shine as well!

What I like:
  • Moisturizing
  • Color build up (can be build from a sheer berry pink to a burgundy-ish color I guess haha)
  • Lasts up to 4 hours
  • No taste
  • Kind of stains your lips...so even after you eat there will still be colors on your lips no matter what

What I don't like:
  • COLOR. I'd wanted a real burgundy lipstick, not berry-burgundy lipstick :/

Review: Blincon CC Natural (choco)

Package

Diameter 14.2mm

Pattern is exactly as the packaging says!

It took me a lot of courage to purchase these contacts! Because my eyes aren't that big,  I was worried I would look animated/fake in 14.2mm circle lens.

As for the color, the saleswoman recommended me Choco because she said it will look the most natural. Even black will look unnatural and I know this from my own experience as well.

The design may look extreme to some of you, but it's not. Here are some pics!

SUPER natural right??

Without flash, natural daylight

Without contacts
My eyes look much less welcoming haha and much more tired

With flash

These contacts last for a month.

They are very easy to put on(unlike my clear colored contacts) and easy to take off--a quick pinch would do. I think this is because colored contacts have more layers than clear contacts, and so because they aren't that thin, they are easier to grasp.

I have dry eyes; The first time I'd worn them, I had them on for around...roughly 12 hours and my eyes were totally fine, no dryness/itchiness at all. But most of the time now they tend to hurt a bit and I have to constantly use eyedrops. I suspect this is because I hadn't washed/cleaned them enough before use...

If you feel like they are too big (diameter) for your taste but you love the color, you could try FreshLook Dailies. FreshLook Dailies are contacts that only can be used once (unless you choose to re-use them?) and they are very very natural as well. The diameter of them is 13.8mm.

Here's another review on another type of Blincon lenses (colored lenses)
http://to-flawless.blogspot.com/2014/02/review-blincon-elegance-crystal-grey.html

Overall, I'm enjoying these lenses!

What I like:
  1. Color is super natural
  2. Easy to put on and take off
  3. Not easily ripped
  4. Comfortable if cleaned well
What I don't like:
  1. ....uncomfortable at times? But I'm willing to say this might be my fault so nevermind
  2. My eyes get red (a tiny bit) no matter how long or how short I have them on for, this could mean that the material is not very good because my eyes don't get red with my clear contacts :P

Rate:
4.5/5

Review: Bausch & Lomb contacts (Monthly)

I got the monthly ones.

Love this!
  1. I have dry eyes and these are comfortable enough. I still feel dryness from time to time but it is nothing a few drops of eye drops can't cure.
  2. I usually try to take my contacts out after having them on for 7-8 hours, but, these can be worn for 12 hours if really necessary, and it doesn't dry out my eyes. There have been a few times where I've worn these for 12.5 hours without using a single drop of eye drop! Pretty good, I'd say.
  3. GOOD QUALITY

And they are still fine! No rips at all

For those of you who are super clumsy or rough, it's fine, I'm sure these contacts can take it ;)

Travel friendly design!!

BTW the color of these contacts is just clear, not even tinted.

Review: Daiso False Eyelashes (6 different kinds with pictures)

Lash #1
Packaging

Check out its thin band!!
I've heard that the thicker the band, the stronger/better-build the false lashes are. But for me, I just want to hide the fact I'm wearing false lashes with as little eyeliner as possible and so I picked out these.

I have picked out the 'Natural' look set and omg, it really is natural looking.

Side view (I've trimmed down its length just a bit for a even more 'natural look' haha)
(I know this isn't a super good pic, but I'll update this later and upload a front view shot)

As you can probably see, there are spaces between them lashes--it's my fault: I was terrible at gluing them on and so some of the lashes got stuck together somehow by the glue. If you can expertly apply false lashes on, I"m sure the spaces would not exist :)

Because these are my first pair of false lashes, I decided to play with them--by cutting them to semi-lash strips, for a even more natural look, hopefully!

Not bad!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bare eyes

Lash #2
2 pairs for Rm 5!

You can't see very well here, but the colors are a mix between brown and black.
They look super long in the box, I'd say approximately 1-1.2 cm.
The band for this pair is very thin as well.

This is what happens after using these falsies once (I applied mascara on it, curled it and trimmed down the length so it'd look more natural).
I was able to reuse the same pair twice before I had to throw them away.
I guess because the falsies are cheap, it's almost impossible for them to get back to their original shape even after cleaning them.

These are much more lighter compared to Lash #1!

Packaging
(Lash #3)

The shape of this pair fits my eyes so perfectly! I didn't need to trim them at all. They may look long but when they are on, they look super super natural and just provide the perfect length for me! The ends are winged out and it looks super good, really 'open' up the eyes

I think you can only use these once.
They are super fragile as well because of how thin and weak the bands are: I was able to try them on however as I was taking them off,  the lashes just came off (See those random lashes in the box?) ....I was so shocked!

Both Lash #1 and Lash #2  are much more better in quality, but Lash #3 provides the best look for me.

UPDATE

Lash#4!

Same as Lash #3, the 'band' is just like...clear tape I think

This time, I was extra careful and used a tweezer to apply on my falsies
This is how it looks like on my eye, no trimming done at all to better fit my eye
Curled it (still looks weird)
Side view

As for #4, it's definitely not natural looking particularly from the side.

This is Lash #3, I'm going to apply this on my eye just so that you can at least get an idea of how it looks like on the eye

This is how it looks like...I love how natural it looks ! (The end bits)

Curled it

Dabbed on a tiny bit of mascara at the ends

UPDATE

Lash #5

The band here is strong, unlike Lash #3 which makes this reusable and less likely to tear.

I trimmed it to better fit my eye. I love how even without curling it, the lashes still shoot right up and is very visible.

UPDATE April '15

Individuals lashes!

-view from below-
As you can see, wearing eyeliner with them is a must!!

I really like them, they are light weight and are very easy to apply. They can also be reused, however, keep in mind that once you curl them, they will stay in that form (soaking them in water or other solution doesn't help with restoring its original shape).
