Review: Rouge Dior Lipstick (Nude 663 Guipure)

Pakage

(The camera washed out the color a bit...)

Bare lips
I dabbed it on
1 thin layer (I applied it on my upper lips only and smudged it)
Applied it the regular way, l layer (and the color is the exact same as the bullet!)

A good lip color can really change your appearance.
This is my favorite shade to wear at the moment because it really helps to brighten up my face. I have yellow undertone and this is a pink shade that works well with yellow undertone: instead of making me appear dull, this color works pretty well with my complexion, it makes me appear more awake and my skin healthier  :)

I was hesitant to purchase a lipstick because I was afraid it would be drying up my lips throughout the day but I'm pleasantly surprised this one didn't do so! It's a good hydrating, pigmented lipstick.
I wore this to eat shabu-shabu and I was amazed after my meal, the color still lingered on my lips and faded only slightly.

This lipstick leaves a slight shine after use (as you can see in the picture) because it's hydrating. It doesn't contain any sparkles or glitter so I would say this color is...matte?

This is pricey for me though, the bullet of the lipstick is only about 2cm and the price is Rm 100 (Sephora). I hope I don't finish it too fast...and find a dupe soon hopefully :P

The packaging is really well done (obviously 'cause it's a high-end product haha)
What I like:
  • Good quality
  • Hydrating
  • Pigmented
  • Good packaging
  • No taste (so you won't be getting any nasty lipstick flavour when you eat)
  • No smell
What I don't like:
  • ...nothing...maybe the bullet of the lipstick could be longer haha

Review: Cetaphil Oil Control Foam Wash

*Cetaphil DERMACONTROL TM Oil Control Foam Wash

Note:
  • I have tiny pimples on my face and overall the skin on my face just isn't smooth, it has...'little bumps' all over haha.
  • My skin type is oily.

My dermatologist recommended this to me and also gave me a packet of antibiotics that was enough to last roughly around 2 months. He said it would take 2-3 months for my skin to become totally clear.

This foam wash has a pleasant smell, and the this smell helps to wake me up in the morning when I wash my face. You only need 1-2 pumps and that's enough to cover your entire face.

I can't say it has cleared up my acne at all, it's been 3 months now and my skin condition is still the same: Redish and little bumps all over with occasional pimples 'popping out'.

If you're someone just looking for a good face wash for oily skin, this would be good, because it doesn't contain Sodium Laureth Sulfate or Ammonium Laureth Sulfate,  and those are 2 ingredients found in commonly face wash, shampoo, body wash which will really strip away the natural oil (that's bad).

This is a very good face wash for oily skin because it doesn't strip down your natural oils (too much), therefore, it'll not dry-out your skin.

It really doesn't do much when it comes to clearing up your acne though.

What I like:
  • Smells good
  • Foam wash (bubbles are fun :P)
  • Doesn't strip off too much natural oil produced on the face, thus not leaving the face dry after wash
  • This bottle lasts for 2 months (use this twice a day) (236 ml)
What I don't like:
  • Don't help much with my acne...
  • Cetaphil is a bit pricey compared to other drugstore bought face wash since it's imported I guess, you could find cheaper face wash just as good as this

Review: Biore Cleansing Oil

My waterproof mascaras are always the worst--I need a good makeup remover or else it'll just stay on my eyelashes and won't come off.

I've tried makeup remover from Sephora, Aupres, Bobbi Brown, The Body Shop, Silky Girl and Biore makeup up remover happened to be on discount the day I went shopping and therefore I purchased it.

My current Mascara (Maybelline the Magnum Cat Eyes Waterproof) is crazy waterproof and extremely hard to get off. Biore cleansing oil, as a drugstore brand, does a wonderful job. I only need 2-4 drops to get rid of my mascara on each eye completely, it doesn't even take up the entire cotton wipe (cotton wipe from The Body Shop).

This is a oil-based makeup remover so those of you with eyelash extensions should stay away from it.
This is colourless, not pink.

This product claims:

  • No greasy or sticky feeling on skin after use
  • does not clog pores
  • Gentle and mild on skin
  • Refreshing fragrance
My thoughts on those list above:
Note: I have oily skin
  • There's no sticky feeling on skin after use, however, I do feel slightly greasy as this is a oil-based makeup remover and it does leave a huge shine on my face after use. So I make sure I wipe my face with a wet towel after I remove my makeup with this to get rid off any left over makeup remover on my face
  • It doesn't clog pores...I think this is true because after weeks of using this my skin condition didn't get worse at all
  • It is gentle
  • Its scent isn't strong at all, so those of you who prefer a no-scent makeup remover still can purchase this
I bought this for around Rm 18 or Rm 20 at Guardian (with discount)

What I like:
  • Good quality for its price
  • Removes my most waterproof mascara fast (Bobbi Brown & Aupres make up remover are faster)
  • Doesn't clog pores
  • Good packaging
What I don't like:
  • Nothing...maybe just that you might feel a bit greasy after use but as long as you wipe your face with water afterwards, it'll be fine
Rate: 5/5 for a drugstore makeup remover :)

Review: St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub

It claims to "Prevents blackheads & Minimizes pores"

I use this to exfoliate my face about 4-5 times a week (you can use it daily if you want to, that's what it says on the packaging) hoping to reduce my blackhead/acne and minimize pores.

I don't see any improvements, I still have blackheads and the size of my pores didn't minimize and I've been using this to exfoliate my face for over 8 months now.

Although the result is such a disappointment, the quality of this scrub is great!

What I like:
  • 100% Natural
  • Gentle to the skin
  • Does not overly strip off the natural oils on my face (Oil/Combination)
  • Smells good
  • Good product to exfoliate skin with (you can use it on other parts of body too ((legs, arms, back)), to prevent ingrown hair or whatever after shaving)
  • So cheap for its very good quality (product)
  • Good packaging, really firm, not made with cheap materials.
What I don't like:
  • Does not prevent blackhead/acne
  • Does not cure blackhead/acne
  • Does not minimize pores

Review: Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip balm with pomegranate oil

Lip Balm!!!
Everyone needs a lip balm to keep our lips from getting chapped, and to everyone who hates water, lip balm is a great way to avoid chapped lips.

I was very happy with Beeswax Lip Balm, it is so amazing, I would apply it every night before bed and I'd wake up with smooth lips. However the original version is colourless and this time I purchased one with color.

*the color of the lip balm below isn't edited

Before

 After

As you can see, there's only a slight difference. If you have naturally pink lips, this would be perferct for you! But for someone with...unattractive lip color like me, this lip balm can only do so much to enhance haha.

I bought this at Sephora, I forgot the price but I believe the price at a Burt's Bees store is cheaper. So, go there instead :P

What I like:
  • Moisturising
  • Tinted color

What I don't like:
  • Color isn't enough for me :P
  • It has this taste which I don't like...the original one has no taste so when I eat food, I won't need to wipe it off, but for this, I'd have to wipe it off
  • Can't wear it at night before I go to bed because it has color. The product claims it's 100% natural but I'm not sure if the color is natural sooo....

Review: Sunsilk hair fall solution, hair tonic

Recently my hair has been falling none stop, like seriously. Why.
Everyday about 20-30 strands of my hair falls off (yes, I counted) and I am not happy.

So I was in Guardian and this product just went up on the shelf and I decided to get it, because it's the only hair product I found that actually stated it's meant for hair fall.

To use this, you twist the top part and separate your hair into sections and just 'pour' it on the partings(On the scalp, the roots of your hair, not at the ends of your hair or where ever else).
And then you just rub your scalp so that the product will really sink into the roots of your hair (:

This product is really lightweight and has this really pleasant smell.
My hair (oily) doesn't feel damp/greasy at all after applying this on. I can't say this adds any volume or softness because it's not meant for that. Your hair just smells nice afterwards and you hope that your hair fall would stop.

It doesn't. After almost a month of using this, my hair fall still continues. On the bottle it says "10X less hair fall"....LOL

However I travelled for a week during the month of using this product. During that week my hair loss went from 20-30 strands a day to 2-5 strands a day. I believe this is because when I was travelling I've been drinking water constantly, at least 1000mL per day and that's why my hair loss was able to reduce so much.

Maybe the trick to really reduce hair fall is to drink water. I don't believe eating too much junk food will cause hair loss because even when I travelled, I still ate plenty of junk food daily and my hair was still really good( 2-5 strands a day). Now that I'm back from vacation, I've stopped drinking as much water again and my hair fall is coming back...I must start drinking water again

In conclusion, this product did not help and is a waste of money for me(Rm 13 only), but hey, at least it made your hair smell good :P

What I like:
Smells good
Light weight
The design of the bottle is good, easy applicator

What I don't like:
Not that much help to hair loss really....

Note:
--This is for all the girls reading this review (I can't say 'guys' because I'm not sure if what I'm about to say applies to them)--

I have been told that there are certain months (usually the months of fall and winter) when our hair will fall off more than usual and certain months when our hair tends to fall off less, typically around the months of summer because our hair needs to stay on our head to protect us (well, technically our head/scalp) from heat.

I've noticed this is exactly what is happening to me. I bought this product when I was having the most hair fall--after summer has ended--and was using it the most around november/december(winter).

Now it's April, and I can definitely say my hair has stopping falling off/breaking off so easily and so much ever since February.

Please know our hair falling off is only natural and is something body does for us, it does not mean you have hair loss (unless....you are getting bald, of course).
No matter how much you hair might be falling, it'll never be as bad as it seems and you will never go bald!

I have barely used this product since december and here are 3 factors that I'm sure have contributed to my reduced 'hair loss' :)

  1. Stop brushing your hair so frequently. I hardly brush my hair now--only about 3 times a week or whenever I must.
  2. Reduce heat. Wash your hair with low heat. Also try to not curl/straight your hair, learn to enjoy the natural texture of it like I have and work it!!
  3. Drink more water. This does not mean you should start chugging down bottles of water all the time--although I guess that'd be good. Just try to increase your water intake daily. For me, I try to drink at least 3 cups of water a day and that's still pretty bad..:P

Review: Biore Cleansing strips Pore Back

Biore Cleansing strips!
At first I was going to purchase Skin Food pore strips but they are more costly (more trustworthy) and I have heard good things about Biore cleansing strips so I got them instead.

There's another type of Biore cleansing strips in which the strips are black so you can see the...excess dirt that's stripped off better on the strips but I got the white ones instead because it's cheaper than the black strips haha.

The white strips are sold in 10 per pack and black ones only 5 per pack but they are both the same price.

This works so well!! I use this right after I come out of the shower so that my pores are open and so the dirt can be get rid off much better.

You wet the nose area first (when you come out of the shower your face should be wet anyway) and then just press the strip to the skin, it should be a perfect fit because this design is very well done. Once the strip is hardened, that's when you peel it off. Make sure You don't have it on for too long though and peel it off as soon as its hardened or else it'll be very very painful to peel off.

I don't recommend using this every single day as it can really enlarge your natural pore size due to the constant peeling...if you have lots of blackheads, one strip isn't going to take it all of at once but it will take loooots of it off. You need time, do it 2-4 times a week depending on your condition.

What I like:
It really works
Cheap
Easy to use

What I don't like:
If you leave it on more then 15 minutes, like the instruction says, it'll be really really painful to peel off

Note: Make sure you use toner to close up those enlarged pores after the use of these strips!!

Rate: 4.5/5  (only because it doesn't get rid of everythinggg completely haha)

Review: Elianto Miracle Multiplex BB Cream #02 Natural

Elianto is a Korean brand.

For this product, it claims to....
"Elianto Miracle BB cream functions as a make up base, foundation, moisturiser and sun protection. Enriched with lavender extracts, it effectively controls seburn production, while maintaining your skin's moisture level. It gives natural coverage and also protects against harmful rays from the sun. "

I bought this at a bargain price of...Rm 29 I believe. The original price is Rm 42.

This was my only option because the other BB cream in store was Miracle White Multiplex BB Cream 02 and that isn't suitable for people with acne(so I was told by the retailer).

The retailer told me this BB cream will not clog my pores and is perfectly fine to put on top of my acne and it will flawlessly cover the redness. She said even though they only have one shade it doesn't matter because once it sets, it'll automatically adjust its color by itself to suit your natural skin tone. Also, apparently if you use it daily, all over your face, this should last for about 3 months.

However I won't be using this for 3 months straight...in fact I won't be using this at all :(

The color doesn't suit me even though the retailer said it'll suit everyone...
It has a pinkish tone (more pinkish in real life than in the photos) and once you put it on you look 1-2 shades lighter and even if it sets, you still look lighter than the rest of your body.

The retailer said its best not to put any powder over this product becuase it'll get cakey easily. It is true! I have tried to use powder to set and bronzer and the product just cakes up.
It doesn't cover any of my redness completely.
I get oily after only 40 minutes and need to blot my face already, isn't this product suppose to be 'shine-control' and meant for oily skin?
If you put 2 layers of this product for more coverage, it'll cause your skin to product more oil...and it'll also take longer for this product to set so you will look pale for a short while...*sigh*

What I like:
SPF 25+

What I don't like:
Too pink under-toned for me
Doesn't control shine like it claims
My skin feels oily with it on
Can't layer it up for more coverage (Gets cakey easily)
Doesn't cover up anything, even the tiny tiny blemishes

Rate: 1/5
sorry :/
